About Potagers

After Gibson’s closed in 2001 Steven’s Dad, Jimmie Pottenger opened up Jim’s Jungle on the West side of the old Gibson’s building. Steven moved back to Billings from Reno, Nevada in 2010. He worked with his Dad from 2010 to 2013. Jimmie retired in 2013 when Steven and his wife Kelly took over the business. It was a natural transition since Steven years ago had completed his B.S. in Biology and more recently completed the Master Gardener’s Program here in Billings. Kelly’s background is business and has been in the business/accounting profession since 1992 and worked part-time at the garden center since 2011.

The year Jimmie retired, he moved to his second location (since 2011) in front of the old World West movie theater at the Rimrock Mall. Steven and Kelly were able to stay there the year after they took over the business. The following year the Mall spot became unaffordable which caused a move to the Rimrock Auto Center on Phyllis Lane. Looking for a spot that had more drive by traffic, Steven and Kelly have found a great spot in front of Sears on Grand (2016).

Our goals are to provide our customers with the best quality plants, trees and shrubs, with excellent customer service and assistance to make the whole experience easy, fun and rewarding.

We have the great fortune of having a core staff that comes back every season, bringing their familiarity with our amazing customers and knowledge of the plants and how to care for them.

Jim’s Jungle/Potagers is proud to be current members of the Montana Nursery & Landscaper Association, Billings Chamber and Master Gardner Association.
